I Feel Like An Imposter – Everyone Else Seems To Know What They Are Doing

  • Reading time:6 mins read

Imposter Syndrome hits us all and it hurts us all. I hear over and over from my friends, and coaching clients, that they feel like they are the only ones in their circle who have no idea what they are doing with their lives. They are the only ones who are lost. The only ones who are searching. The only ones who are misspent. And the only ones who don’t have their shit together.

Everyone else they know is happy, well-adjusted, in a content relationship, loving their jobs, own a big house, and are steadily saving towards retirement.

They don’t understand what’s wrong with them that they can’t figure out this life business.

Why are they having such a hard time launching their adulthood?, they ask me.

Think Of Everything You Do As Seeds You Are Planting

  • Reading time:6 mins read

When an oak tree puts out acorns, it knows not all acorns are actually going to result into another oak tree. In fact, one oak tree can put as many as 10,000 acorns in their masting year. And statistically, only one of those acorns is going to take seed properly and grow into a fully-grown oak tree. If you think those are poor stats, I absolutely agree. (Btw, these stats are from the fascinating book, The Hidden Life Of Trees, which I highly recommend). I actually use the same analogy for myself when I do my work. People ask me why I do so many things, and I work such long hours. There are many reasons for it, one of them being that I wasted my entire 20s drinking, partying, and being stupid, so now it's my time to catch up. But more importantly, I know how this universe works, and how the planting of ideas takes fruition. Out of the hundreds…

[Ep 87] Do Your Business Your Way

  • Reading time:3 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be talking to you about how people tend to look up to and copy other people life strategies in hopes that they will emulate that persons' success. I advocate the policy of modifying other people's strategies to fit your own lifestyle, characteristics, and personality traits. That's the way to be truly successful. We need to do our own thing in life. Many people seem to think that if they follow the format that someone else is using to run their business then they will also become successful. The problem is that just because one strategy worked for one person, that doesn't mean that this strategy would work for you as well. It's a hit-or-miss kind of strategy. We need to stand out from the crowd, do our own thing and not be a sheep following the herd. [Ep 85] Change The World; Don’t Just Add To The Noise

  • Reading time:3 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be chatting to you about a quote I heard from the movie, The Glass Castle. Here's how it goes - “Change the world; Don’t just add to the noise”. I love this quote because there is way too much noise in this world. As a new business owner, I tend to hear a lot of noise. Whether it be from nay-sayers, people trying to sell me things or just other people’s opinions on how to run my business. Everyone has an opinion but it’s up to you whether you listen to it or not. You must be critical of the noise around you or it can become very overwhelming. Podcast Content Quote from “The Glass Castle” Be critical of the noise you hear Don’t put people on pedestals Shiny object syndrome Don’t be a source of noise If someone is trying to tell you how to run your business, or how to do your meditation or work on…

[Ep 81] 3 Lessons From The First Year Of Business

  • Reading time:3 mins read

In this episode, I’ll be talking to you about three big lessons that I learned during the first year of running my own business. There are hundreds of little lessons that I have accumulated in the past year, some that I am aware of, others that I am not. I wanted to share the top three with you, because these are lessons that are transferable to all areas of life. Not just business, but everything else you can imagine. Podcast content The power of meditation The joys of consistency The bounty of patience My coaching program During the past year of creating and growing my own business, I’ve discovered just how powerful meditation can really be! Whenever I’m feeling stressed or any negative emotions, a short session of meditation can change my whole mood around. Meditation slows your thoughts down and lets you become conscious to the world around you as it is now. It helps me calm down and relax, it…

Don’t Let The Internet Rush You – No One Is Posting Their Failures

  • Reading time:4 mins read

Recently, I read this awesome quote attributed to Wesley Snipes (on his Twitter account), and I instantly copied and pasted it into my archives of useful quotes. It’s basically the title of this post – Don’t let the internet rush you; No one is posting their failures.

Boom! Bam! Bing! Absolutely on point. As soon as I read it, I got goosebumps, and that’s when I know something that I am reading (or listening to or whatever) is important. That’s how your body’s intelligence tells you that something is important. It’s not a random coincidence that your body chose that exact moment to get chilly.

The reason I wanted to write a blog post on this topic was because it’s so relevant to all of us creatives and entrepreneurs out there. All we see are the success stories. All we see are those people out there making millions and smashing every business goal set in their lifetime.

Meanwhile, we are sitting here, making piddly amounts of money, hoping that one day, our work will pay off; someday in the far, far, far off future, perhaps. (more…)

Are You Focusing Your Energies On The Wrong Questions?

  • Reading time:13 mins read

I get asked this particular question a lot from newbie business owners, or people who are trying to set up an online business, and it always acts like a stumbling block for people.

The question being, “Should I build my business under my name, or under a random moniker, like you have done with The Millionaire Hippie?”

It’s weird to me, how this question seems to paralyze the people who ask it for weeks, months, or even years on end. I know of one friend who hasn’t been able to figure out the answer to this question, and it has been at least 8 years for her.

I want to tell you guys one thing, and only one thing (which is usually what I tell the people who ask me the question as well) – It doesn’t matter. (more…)

How To Create Unstoppable Momentum In Business?

  • Reading time:12 mins read

When I first started this business and brand, I did what everyone does. I started off by building a website. I went around the Interwebs and looked at all of the successful people in my field, and looked at their website. Of course, that was the worst thing to do as a newbie. I saw all of their amazing professional spick and span websites, and I looked at my starter website and I faltered.

This made me think, I am never going to get to where these people are at. I will never catch up. After I had that debilitating thought, I started working day and night trying to “catch up” with people who didn’t even know they were in a race with me.

Of course, I burnt out long before I got any further ahead. The lesson was, of course, to never compare. But also to take it as slow as a baby. Especially when you are starting out something so big. (more…)

Stop Hitting The Metaphorical Snooze Button On Your Projects

  • Reading time:11 mins read

Do you know what happens when you hit the snooze button in the morning? When we wake up and go back to sleep, we are actually going back into another sleep cycle, and then interrupting it over and over again. I had an ex who used to hit the snooze button twenty times in the morning before he finally woke up. I would be up with the first alarm, and doing stuff, and he would still be hitting an hour and a half later.

The reality with all of these interrupted sleep cycles is that we feel more tired, than we just woke up the first time around, because we are going in and out of sleep several times, and not really getting any true rest. Even though, in our minds, we imagine that we are allowing ourselves to rest just a tiny bit more.

I was thinking about this snooze button, and I realized that every time someone hits the snooze button on their sleep, instead of taking a few steps forward or even standing still, they are actually being pushed a few steps backwards. This is because they are going to wake up groggy and out of sorts, instead of being refreshed by their sleep. It’s going to take them hours to truly wake up after all of those missed sleep cycles. (more…)
