There Are Going To Be Days When Everything Goes Wrong

  • Reading time:6 mins read

‘But my website has been down for 3 days!’ I yelled at a customer service representative, instantly regretting yelling at someone who was obviously not at fault. I took a deep breath, and asked the rep to help me fix my website issues today. I needed my website to be up again. I was losing precious potential clients every moment it was down. I was pulling my hair out at the frustration of it all.

Not only that, but I hadn’t had a chance to take a shower in 2 days because I didn’t have time, and my hair needed a cut. If you wanted me to keep on going, I could. I had a long list of things I had to do, and they weren’t getting done. Everyone around me was incompetent, and I was all alone.

It was a miracle I didn’t have a nervous breakdown. Well, I was close to one, when my website miraculously came back up and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Why did I do that to myself? Why did I push myself so hard? What was I trying to do to my business and to myself? (more…)

Build Momentum In Your Life And Business Every Day

  • Reading time:7 mins read

I had a dream recently. I was sitting down with a famous guru, and we were playing chess. I moved one chess piece, and then, he moved one, and we kept on playing over years it seemed. Time stood still at times, and then it rapidly moved at others. But when I woke up, I felt like my subconscious was trying to tell me something really important. It was so interesting to me, as my life right now is exactly about this lesson that my dream was trying to give me... "Build momentum in your life and business by moving one tiny chess piece forward every single day." I have spent so much time in my past life doing exactly the opposite. I would get really gung-ho about a new endeavour that I had decided to take on, like rollerblading or Aikido. I would be so excited, and enthusiastic for a month or two months. Then, I would get tired of maintaining…

What Is Your Definition Of Success?

  • Reading time:6 mins read

Society defines success in a weird manner. It is really f-ed up. Most people have this random goal in their head, that if achieved, would be the definition of success for them. So many of us believe that when or if we become millionaires, we will finally have that life that we dream of. One million dollars is that elusive and awesome goal that so many of us aspire to.

I had the same random goal placed in my head by society that I used to gauge how successful I was. It was really odd when one day I realized I could live my ideal life on much, much less. When I realized my ideal life costs about $5000 CAD a month, sometimes even less, that’s when my entire idea of success and what it means shifted.

My definition of success has shifted drastically over the past few years. Slowly but surely, I have realized that success means something entirely different to me, than it did ten years ago, or five years ago. My values shifted over time. Success has as well changed over time.

In my head, most people are chasing the wrong kind of success. They have been told so many times that success means a certain amount of money, whatever that amount might be. But once they reach that goal, they realize that they are still not satisfied, because that wasn’t what was truly important to them. Or they always feel dissatisfied because they are chasing a success goal that is completely opposite to their values. (more…)

Have You Heard Of The 1% Rule For Success?

  • Reading time:11 mins read

I love to learn, and I am constantly either reading a self-help book, or listening to an audiobook, or watching to a motivational video on YouTube. We are so lucky to be living in an age where there is so much free material available for us to consume. If you have an internet connection and a phone, you have access to hundreds of thousands of hours of free material online. Of course, this can lead to a bit of overwhelm, and perhaps distraction, where we spend our time watching cat videos instead of doing the work that is necessary to get us ahead.

But that is where the 1% rule for success comes in. It says, that you just need to be 1% better than the rest of the crowd in order to be more successful. It also says that you only have to improve by 1% every single day in order to be a successful person, more so than others.

Let me break it down for you.

Kaizen – Continuous Improvement Changes Lives

You’ve probably heard of this term called ‘Kaizen’ which is a Japanese term meaning improvement, one-time or continuous, large or small.

How does this apply to success and optimal living? Kaizen advocates that as long as we are improving ourselves every single day by a little bit (whatever that amount might be), we will be a 100 times better off than the crowd.

The problem with most people is that they aren’t improving themselves. They are actually back-sliding. In this world, where everything moves so fast, if you aren’t improving and learning and growing, you are actually moving backwards. That is where a lot of people are at. They aren’t improving themselves at all, by learning or growing. They might even be killing off precious brain cells by watching crappy TV for 7 hours a day (the national American average), and drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and doing drugs (prescription or not).  (more…)

New To Online Business? 5 Things You Need To Know.

  • Reading time:6 mins read

I spend a lot of time chatting with individuals in coffee shops, and networking events. Most people when they hear that I’m running my online business, ask me a lot of similar questions. I used to answer these questions over and over again, until I realized, I should really write this guide down for people who are wondering about these questions, but don’t have me face-to-face to ask them.

What I want to say first is that it isn’t easy. It is simple, but as you know, simple doesn’t mean easy. Online business needs a lot of effort, time, energy, focus, determination, and will power. It will take your all and you still might not see any results for months or years. So you are in it for the long haul. If you are unwilling to do the work, then stop wasting my time and everyone else’s. Stop asking questions because you are not going to put them into effect. If you are willing to do the work, then bravo! I commend you for taking the step.

What Niche Should I Focus On?

This is one of the first and biggest blocks that people new to online business have. It’s usually the point at which people give up and give in. They fear that they don’t have THE niche that is going to make them millions of dollars. Let me say this about it. There are very niches that haven’t already been taken. So forget about finding a niche that doesn’t already have a lot of competition. The people who are going to care about you and your business will find you. Your vibe will attract your tribe. You have nothing to worry about on that end.  (more…)

5 Ways Meditation Helps Entrepreneurs Be More Successful

  • Reading time:7 mins read

Meditation helps you see the world clearly. It can be a muddy world out there with all the different messages floating towards you from society, family, government, and your own crazy mind. But when you meditate, all of that peripheral stuff drops off. Everything becomes clearer. Life becomes less muddy. Your path is lit up showing you the way.

Meditation Helped Me Decide To Quit Corporate

When I decided to quit my job to start my business, I did it because I had been consistently meditating for the year before that point, and I couldn’t hide from the truth anymore. The truth being, I was unhappy serving and building other people’s dreams and I wanted to start something of my own based on my dreams and vision.

At that point, I didn’t realize how much my meditation practice would help me in my entrepreneurial journey as well.

To be perfectly honest, an entrepreneur’s life is hard and not for everyone. It’s full of ups and downs, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. There are so many pitfalls, and blackholes to deal with. Some days you are excited to be alive and working on your dreams. Other days you feel so foolish for giving up a comfortable corporate existence to start your own thing.

It requires a different breed of human to deal with the atrocities put upon by this entrepreneurial life. But something that helps quite a bit on the journey is holding a steady, consistent meditation practice. (more…)

Are You Being Held Back From Living a Fulfilling Life?

Live a Fulfilling Life

Live a Fulfilling Life – What Causes Success

Do you know fear – it’s our archenemy? Live a fulfilling life now without fear holding you back.

When I was younger, I used to wonder why some people had a lot of success in their life – people look up to them, people admire them, people want to be them…

Whereas, there were other people who lived lives of quiet desperation – no one even cared if these people lived or died (harsh, I know).

I read hundreds of books on self-help, personal growth, and development, in order to solve this mystery.

Over time, I realized that fear was the one thing that held people back from being an astounding success (and consistency, but we have spoken about that previously).

Successful people are full of fear, doubt, anxiety, frustration, anger, jealousy.. just like the unsuccessful people.

We are all the same on the inside.

Work Horror Stories? Life Isn’t Supposed To Be Like This.

  • Reading time:9 mins read

Work Horror Stories

Ever since I quit my job and shared my story with the people in my life, I have had several people come up to me (virtually and in real life) and tell me their work horror stories.

  • Working long hours without pay,
  • Letting people go and their workload lumped in with yours,
  • Not letting you go on vacation because there isn’t any backup available, etc.

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you these stories – you are probably living them in your own life.

But the thing that saddened me the most was how often people would tell me that they came home from their jobs and spent a few minutes or hours every day crying in their kitchen or on their couches.

Instead of taking the time away from their jobs to relax, they were spending it in misery, and sadness.

That really irked the hell out of me.

I wanted to shout from the rooftops – This isn’t how it’s supposed to be. Life is supposed to be easy. Humans aren’t supposed to work so damn hard.

5 Major Blocks That Keep Us From Quitting Corporate

  • Reading time:14 mins read

Quitting Corporate Is Scary

I have been through it all.

The despair, the heartache, the fear, the doubt, the anxiety, the joy, the ups and the downs, the plunge and the high… Every entrepreneur who decides to take the plunge goes through this drama in their heads.

The problem is we let the stories we are tell ourselves about ourselves and about the process control our decisions.

I wanted to become an entrepreneur a long time ago. When I was 22, which was ten years ago, I realized I didn’t want to do the 9-5 thing forever. I wanted to build something of my own.

But it took me ten years to get to the point where I decided to finally take the plunge. I had all the excuses you could think of! (more…)
